Itinerary
This nine night itinerary highlights the variety of scenery, wildlife and game viewing activities found within the Okavango Delta, from land based activity camps to permanents water locations and from guided walks to overnight hides.
Your flight into Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta, will be met and you will be assisted to your light charter aircraft for the short fight to Chitabe Lediba.
Days 1-4
Chitabe Lediba, lying adjacent to the Moremi Game Reserve, is a dry game activity camp located on the same island as its sister camp, Chitabe, but is smaller and just right as a private camp for small groups or for families. It also has a unique hide where guests can spend a night under the stars overlooking a water hole – a truly amazing experience.
The diversity of habitat in the area provides for a wide variety of wildlife, such as elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, tsessebe, buffalo, impala, zebra and hippo. Wild dogs, one of the Okavango’s rarer predators, may also be sighted.
Days 4-7
From Chitabe Lediba you fly west into the heart of the Okavango Delta to Jacana Camp, named after the endemic African water bird.
Located on a seasonally flooding lagoon, Jacana epitomises how a small tented camp can offer comfort and style and yet blend effortlessly into its natural surroundings. How you see the wildlife, and what you see, will depend on water levels, but there are excellent sightings all year round.
Jacana has only five en-suite tented rooms set on a small island with views over the floodplains and lagoon.
Days 7-10
From Jacana travel to the northern reaches of the Okavango Delta to Little Vumbura.
The camp has only six en-suite tented rooms (of which one is a family room) and is situated on a private island shaded by the canopy of the forest, close to where the annual flood waters spread out upon entering the Okavango.
Little Vumbura is close to one of the permanent water channels in the delta, so benefits from year round water based game viewing, with sightings consistently good in all seasons.
Day 11
At the end of the itinerary you are flown back to Maun to begin your homeward journey.
