Itinerary
From the massive dunes of Sossuvlei, through the vast spaces of the Namib and Kalahari deserts, to the salt pans of the Etosha, Namibia is a land of startling contrasts
The Remote Namibia itinerary takes you to three remote locations where you can experience true solitude and gaze at the night sky, unblemished by any light pollution.
Arriving into Windhoek you will be met and transferred by light aircraft to Little Kulala.
Days 1-4 (Little Kulala - 3 nights)
Situated on over 40,000 acres of private property and bordering the Namib Naukluft Park, Little Kulala Lodge lies in the heart of the Namib and offers magnificent views of the famous red dunes of Sossusvlei as well as the mountainous scenery and vast open plains.
Early morning guided excursions to the spectacular towering dunes are through a private gate into the reserve. Guided nature drives and walks are also offered to show you the desert animals and smaller desert fauna and flora. Another option, at extra cost, is a 60-minute balloon safari at first light, offering a truly unique experience to soar silently above the magnificent sand dunes and desert, ending with a champagne breakfast.
Day 4-7 (Damaraland Camp – 3 nights)
Light aircraft flight to Damaraland.
Situated on the northern face of the Huab River valley and looking south toward the imposing Brandberg Mountains, Damaraland Camp offers its guests endless vistas. Early morning mists generated by the clash between the icy Atlantic Ocean and the warm desert air of the Skeleton Coast, drift inland along the river sand canyon, providing sustenance to the flora and fauna of the region.
Early morning guided walks and drives in one of the best wilderness areas in Namibia. Although wildlife is not concentrated, Damaraland Camp is situated where the rare Desert Elephant roams, alongside Gemsbok (Oryx), Springbok, Ostrich and other hardy desert animals.
Day 7-9 (Serra Cafema – 3 nights)
Light aircraft transfer to Hartmann’s Valley.
Serra Cafema Camp is one of the most remote camps in all of Southern Africa and offers one of the most memorable experiences in Namibia. On the banks of the Kunene River the sounds of the rapids just downstream from the camp contrast starkly with the views of the sand dunes of one of the driest deserts on Earth.
Early morning activities are offered including quad biking, a boat cruise, nature drives & walks and visits to a local Himba settlement.
Game viewing in this area is limited to herds of gemsbok, springbok and Hartmann’s zebra. The Kunene River has a large population of Nile crocodiles. Burchell’s Courser and Benguela Long-billed Lark are among the characteristic bird species to be found in this area.
Day 10
Air transfer to Windhoek International airport.
