Itinerary
Tanzania can truly claim to be the home of the safari as “safari” is Swahili for “journey”. And there are few better places to enjoy an enriching cultural and wildlife experience than Tanzania.
The “Totally Tanzania” safari visits three totally different areas of Tanzania from the Serengeti in the north to Katavi National Park in the “wild” west, finishing in the Selous Game Reserve in the south. An extension to an island retreat completes your Tanzanian experience.
Day 1 (Arusha to Serengeti)
Met on arrival into Arusha (in the shadow of Mount Kilmanjaro) and transferred by road to Arusha Coffee Lodge for a light late breakfast (account settled locally). Your scheduled 2 hour Coastal Air flight departs at 12:30 to Klein’s Camp for a three night stay on Full Board.
Days 2-3 (Serengeti)
Two full days to explore the Serengeti, probably one of the best known wildlife areas in Africa and home to the annual migration, when almost 1 ½ million mammals move north into Kenya in search of grazing.
Day 4 (Serengeti to Katavi)
Transfer back to Klein’s Airstrip in time for your 2 hour 45 minute charter flight departing at 09:15 to Chada Katavi for a three night stay on Full Board.
Days 5-6 (Katavi)
Two full days to explore the Katavi National Park, one of the great wildlife experiences of the world. Miles from anywhere and, it is thought, a greater densities of mammals than any other Tanzanian reserve.
Day 7 (Katavi to Selous)
Scheduled four hour Safari Air Link transfer to Kiba Airstrip Selous departing at 1120. On arrival met with a transfer to Sand Rivers Selous for a three night stay on Full Board.
The Selous is the largest game reserve in Africa, bigger even than Denmark or Switzerland. The park has far less accommodation than the more famous Serengeti and has more of a remote and classical “old African” feel about it.
Days 8-9 (Selous)
Two full days to explore the Selous.
Day 10 (Selous to Dar es Salaam)
Scheduled Coastal Air transfer departing at 13:15 to Dar es Salaam for your onward flight or to Pemba Island for your beach extension.
Extension

Days 10-12
At leisure
