A unique beach holiday on Mozambique’s Ibo Island Nestled in the Quirimbas Archipelago and nominated for World Heritage status, Ibo one of a string of 32 islands are both remote and untouched by the modern world. Steeped in history and culture with settlements dating back to the 16th century, when it was an important trading post, Ibo is one of the oldest inhabited islands in Mozambique. The lodge is situated in a superb location next to the beach and is divided between three historic mansions, with Villa Paradiso and Villa Niassa offering guest accommodation in fourteen bedrooms, whilst Villa Bela Vista houses the roof-top restaurant (ideal for watching the sun sink into the Indian Ocean), bar and pool area. All bedrooms are individually crafted and individual, with many opening onto private verandas, decked with hand-crafted furniture and soft cushions covered in colourful local fabrics. All rooms are air-conditioned, have ceiling fans and offer en-suite facilities with twin basins and large marble showers. Some have baths and outside showers. Ibo Island Lodge offers a wide range of activities from diving & snorkelling to Dhow sunset cruises, and kayaking & mangrove excursions, to cultural and local community interaction. Ibo Island Lodge offers an excellent beach holiday extension to a safari in southern Tanzania should you feel that Zanzibar is a little too main stream for you.
